How to Run AI Coding Agents Such as Claude Code, Codex CLI, GitHub Copilot CLI and Gemini CLI on Android
Install AiCLI from Google Play. It gives you an Ubuntu terminal on Android that is set up for command-line AI coding agents such as Claude Code, Codex CLI, GitHub Copilot CLI and Gemini CLI. You sign in to each AI service with your own account.
How to do it
- Install the app from Google Play. Search Google Play for AiCLI by UserLAnd Technologies. It is a one-time purchase.
- Open it and let it set up. The first launch downloads and sets up the Linux files the app needs. Stay on Wi-Fi; this only happens once.
- Start your AI tool and sign in. In the terminal, start the AI coding tool you want to use and sign in with your own account for that service. The agent then works in your terminal, with access to local files and the shell.
- Install anything else you need. AiCLI runs Ubuntu, so
sudo apt installadds compilers, runtimes and other tools for you or your agent.
What you get
- Run Claude Code, Codex CLI, GitHub Copilot CLI and Gemini CLI on Android
- Ubuntu underneath, so you can install any package you or your agent needs
- Terminal-native agents that can read and edit local files and run commands
What you need
- An Android phone or tablet with Google Play
- Free storage for the Linux files (a tablet or a phone with a large screen is most comfortable)
- Internet for the first-time setup
- Optional: a Bluetooth or USB keyboard and mouse
Prefer free?
UserLAnd is free: install Ubuntu in UserLAnd, then install the AI coding tools yourself in its terminal. AiCLI saves those setup steps, and buying it supports UserLAnd development.
AiCLI is not Claude Code, Codex CLI, GitHub Copilot or Gemini CLI. It gives those tools a place to run. You sign up for each AI service yourself.
