How to Run 500+ Classic Genesis, NES, SNES, PC and Arcade Games on Android

Install OG Arcade from Google Play. OG Arcade plays 500+ classic NES, Genesis, SNES, arcade and PC games from the 70s, 80s and 90s on Android. There are no ROM files to find and no emulator to configure: pick a game and play with built-in touch controls.

How to do it

  1. Install OG Arcade from Google Play. Search Google Play for OG Arcade by UserLAnd Technologies.
  2. Find a game. Browse the list or use search to find a game you remember.
  3. Play with touch controls. Each game comes with on-screen controls. The first time you play a game it loads from the Internet Archive; after that it doesn't need a connection.
  4. Save and come back later. Use the in-app save and restore buttons to pick up exactly where you left off.

What you get

  • 500+ console, arcade and PC classics, with more added continuously
  • No ROM files and no emulator setup
  • Built-in on-screen controls for every game
  • Save and restore at any point
  • Game list search
  • Games checked to match the app's age rating

What you need

  • An Android phone or tablet with Google Play
  • Internet the first time you play each game

OG Arcade doesn't contain any game files or ROMs. It loads the publicly available, unmodified version from the Internet Archive and adds Android touch controls. You need internet the first time it loads. OG Arcade does not host any game files.

The Internet Archive is Coming Back Online and So are our Gaming Apps

About 1 month ago UserLAnd Technologies' apps which allow you to play retro games on Android stopped working.  The reason for this is that these apps act as a sort of browser extension for what the Internet Archive  has archived.  The apps provide a way to meaningfully use these games on Android, but we don't host the games ourselves.  This generally works well but the Internet Archive suffered multiple attacks (DDoS, databases hacked and website defaced) at the beginning of October.  The end result was that all of their services went offline.  The team at the Internet Archive prioritized getting the Wayback Machine and other services working before they restored their collection of games.  The good news is that the games (and other sw) are now back online.  Their blog has a summary of what is working currently.  I am guessing we will see some slowness and some random outages as they continue to restore and improve their services, bu...

Our Different Plans for Thunderbird on Android

Revealed: Our Different Plans for Thunderbird on Android A little while ago, it was announced that Thunderbird was, sort of, coming to Android . When we saw that announcement, the UserLAnd Technologies team thought "Why don't we bring it to Android for real?".  So we have and it is now on the Play Store . This is the first release of the actual desktop version of Thunderbird for Android. It has some bumps currently, for example there is a awkward pause before Thunderbird is displayed, but we will improve BirdBox over time and we don't see any issues that cannot be solved in future releases. We are charging for this app to help fund our open source work, but you can run Thunderbird in our free app, UserLAnd , if desired. BirdBox will allow us to create a more convenient and tailored experience for Thunderbird users. Any improvements developed while working on BirdBox will find their way back into UserLAnd. Lastly, I have some promo codes if desired.  Email us at sup...
